Educational Opportunities & Programs

We support the Missouri Department of Conservation’s new GLE-aligned program called Discover Nature Schools. Through this fun and hands on curriculum, we are bringing students outdoors and closer to nature. For more information please visit http://mdc.mo.gov/education/inside-classroom/discover-nature-schools.

To make or request an appointment please visit our Calendar or email Amber Edwards, Education Coordinator or call (573) 254-3990, and we will be happy to schedule your activities. Please contact us one month in advance to schedule an event or for further information regarding our programs. All of our activities are outdoors; we recommend scheduling an alternate rain date.

We have a variety of self-guided trails that allow exploration of the different habitats like prairie, savannah, forest, pond & streams that are at Prairie Fork. Trail maps & stops will be available upon request by April 2011.

Facilities at Prairie Fork Conservation Area are primitive, but there are parking areas for buses, outdoor toilet facilities, and a water hydrant is available.

Physically challenged visitors can be accommodated. A handicap accessible half-mile loop trail is available around Crow Pond.
