Prairie Fork Trust Funds 2005 Research Projects

March 1, 2005

The Prairie Fork research projects for 2005 have been submitted and Prairie Fork Trust has made the tough decisions. Several projects that will further our understanding of natural resource management and conservation were funded for 2005.

Several of the projects will help management professionals, at Prairie Fork and throughout the Midwest, make better decisions in conserving our prairie resources. Projects in 2005 include looking at the effects of prairie restoration on soil microbiological activities, prairie restoration effects on soil structure, techniques to diversify existing prairie plantings, developing ecological land classifications tools for restoration and management planning and implementation, the effects of burning regimes on native plants, and savanna restoration activities.

These projects should provide insight into management problems and tools for decision making that will not only be used by Prairie Fork managers, but by mangers throughout the Midwest that are dealing with these real-world questions and issues.
